Brow Services 101:

Brows are confusing. There are a lot of options, a lot of opinions, and a lot of misinformation. So let’s break down the different brow services we offer, what they actually do, and who they’re best for—no fluff, just facts.

Brow Wax vs. Brow Tweeze

What’s the difference?

A brow wax removes hair quickly and efficiently—including those tiny baby hairs that like to hide. A brow tweeze, on the other hand, removes hair one at a time.

So… does tweezing cost less since it’s “just tweezing”?
No.

Tweezing actually takes longer because we’re literally plucking one hair at a time. (Yes, estheticians, I said pluck. Please recover accordingly.)

Why would we tweeze instead of wax?

Tweezing is great for clients with compromised or sensitive skin—think:

  • Retin-A users

  • Accutane users

  • Very sensitive skin

  • Anyone who just doesn’t tolerate wax well

Tweezing is gentler on the skin, but it doesn’t grab baby hairs as well as wax, which is why waxing is usually more precise.

Can You Sugar Brows?

Yes, you can.
Do we? Not usually.

Why? Because it’s just not as precise for brows. If you really want to try it, we can—but it’s still the same price. Precision matters with brows, and wax gives us the cleanest shape.

Brow Tint

A brow tint colors the hair, not the skin. Think of it like dyeing the hairs that already exist.

  • It can make brows look thicker

  • It will NOT fill in gaps on the skin

  • It lasts up to 6 weeks on the hair

There’s a nice range of colors from dark blonde to almost black. And before you ask—no, I still have not found a red tint that looks good. I’ve searched. Trust me. Most redheads don’t actually want bright red brows anyway.

This service is great if:

  • You have lighter brows or just want your dark brows darker

  • You’re starting to see some greys (although greys can be stubborn)

  • You want to rely less on brow pencil

That said—if you’re a hardcore pencil user, a tint won’t replace it completely. Tint can’t fill every gap like makeup can.

Also, important PSA:
If you’re the type to call a few days later or leave a spicy Yelp review because your tint “didn’t last on your skin”… it’s not supposed to.
The first day may look slightly stained, but tint is not a skin stain.

Brow tint pairs beautifully with a brow wax for a clean, crisp look.

Henna Brows

Henna is similar to tint BUT it does stain the skin.

Let me say it clearly:
UP TO 2 weeks on the skin.
Up. To.

That does not mean everyone gets two weeks. Some people get a few days. Skin type, how you wash your face, and how often you get it wet all matter.

Henna:

  • Stains the skin up to 2 weeks

  • Colors the hair up to 6 weeks

  • Comes in a similar color range as tint

Enough people love henna that it’s staying on the menu. Many clients who do henna regularly eventually decide to move on to permanent makeup… which we will get to soon.

Brow Lamination

Okay, let’s be honest: this one is bold.
Some people hate it. Just fair warning. We even had a client say she wanted to “throw up” when she saw them… um did you not look at the photos we post online??? What were you expecting? Don’t be so dramatic hahahah

But for those who love it? WOW. It is really incredible how lamination can transform brows. Some of my most favorite brow transformations have been brow laminations!

Brow lamination is basically a perm for your brows. It retrains the hair to be more flexible so you can style them into that fluffy, full, trendy look.

  • Makes brows look thicker and fuller

  • Helps unruly brows stay put all day

  • Includes a tint (lamination can lighten hair slightly)

  • Best paired with a wax—so we include both a wax and tint with brow lami

For hair health, lamination can only be done every 8–10 weeks. But you can come get a tint and wax in-between if needed.

If you want soft, fluffy, brushed-up brows—this is your moment.

Permanent Makeup (PMU)

This includes:

  • Nano brows

  • Microblading

  • Shading

  • Or a combination

This is the most long-term option. It’s tattooing the skin, not coloring the hair.

Important things PMU does not do:

  • It does not change the color of your brow hairs

  • If you’re blonde or grey, you’ll still need tinting

  • If you have a lot of hair, you still need to maintain the shape

If brow hair grows wild, it can hide the tattooed work underneath.

PMU is permanent for years, not forever, and most people need a yearly color boost or touch-up. But for many clients, it’s absolutely life-changing and gives that “daily perfection” look without as much daily effort.

At the end of the day…

There’s no one-size-fits-all brow service. Some people love subtle, some love bold, and some just want to stop fighting their brows every morning. Our job is to help you figure out what works for your face, your hair, and your lifestyle but doesn’t make you want to barf!

If you’re unsure where to start—don’t stress. We’ll walk you through it (and probably make you laugh while we do).

Brows should be fun. And maybe a little sassy. 😉
